Pet Care Services

Carter Veterinary Medical Center is one of the few veterinarian facilities in the Carmel area that offers technologically-advanced equipment and solutions to your animal’s healthcare needs.

Telemedicine – Telemedicine is a new breakthrough in veterinary medicine that allows us to digitally confer with leading-edge specialists. Using computer technology integrated with our ultrasound and radiography (X-rays and fluoroscopy) equipment, test results that are difficult to interpret can be sent to board-certified specialists for an authoritative and rapid response. We are the only Carmel area veterinary facility to offer the speed and accuracy of Telemedicine.

Diagnostic Ultrasound – We use this sound-wave technology to produce real-time images of internal body structures, organ function, tendons, ligaments and babies. This is an essential diagnostic tool in human medicine, but we are of only a handful of veterinary medical facilities to offer this. And, we’re the only one with the tools to obtain a specialist’s interpretation when needed.

X-rays – X-rays are a basic diagnostic tool, but with our in-house radiography equipment, we can get the results more quickly. And with Telemedicine, results that are challenging can be digitally sent to a board-certified veterinary radiologist for an expert opinion.
Fluoroscopy – Fluoroscopy is a real-time imaging tool that allows our doctors to see the processes in your pet’s body not just the structures. Think “X-ray movie.” Because we can see movement and activity as it happens, fluoroscopy has been a boon to our overall diagnostic abilities, from the heart to the gastrointestinal tract. As with X-rays and ultrasound, if there is any reason we can’t interpret the results, we can use Telemedicine to get an expert interpretation.
Electrocardiogram (EKG) – Just like in human medicine, EKG is an important component to heart-related healthcare. For pets with health problems, or just suspected heart disorders, we use this hospital-style diagnostic to get a more complete picture of the problem. Also, using a digital link-up like with Telemedicine, we can get expert interpretations and quickly.

Laser Surgery

Laser surgery is considered on the cutting edge of technology with less pain, less bleeding and less swelling.

Carter Veterinary Medical Center is proud to offer laser surgery as a more precise and less traumatic alternative to traditional surgery. Our Accuvet™ CO2 Laser produces an invisible beam of light that effortlessly and precisely cuts through tissue, while simultaneously sealing tiny blood vessels and nerve endings. The result is less swelling of surrounding tissue, less bleeding during the procedure, and ultimately, less post-operative pain reducing overall recovery time. Laser surgery enables Dr. Carter to perform less invasive surgical procedures using only a local anesthetic.

It’s our mission at Carter Vet to provide our patients with the highest possible quality of life through the most compassionate and comprehensive care available. We hope that you will take advantage of the numerous benefits of this advancement in veterinary surgical technology.

In-House Surgical Procedures

Dr. Carter and his associates have performed thousands of pet surgical procedures with fantastic results. We have our own surgical suite on-site and the latest equipment that can monitor your pet’s vitals and progress.

Laser Treatment

This is a great treatment for older animals. Pets with swelling in their joints and soft tissues will gain relief from this laser that dramatically reduces pain caused by the pressure. The treatment works by the application of red and infrared light over an area that needs improvement or healing. Treatments last 3 to 6 minutes per site and require no anesthesia. Your pet will be very comfortable as this laser produces only slight warmth in the inflamed tissue.

Emergency Care

Our dedicated team of veterinarians and highly trained technicians and staff all come together to provide the most advanced veterinary emergency and critical medical care.

Whether your pet needs a quick shampoo, pedicure or needs to be rid of pesky fleas, Carter Veterinary Medical Center offers an array of grooming services.

Dental Care

Domestic pets enjoy veterinary care that includes regular oral exams and teeth cleaning, preventive measures that allow for disease prevention and an extended life. We provide dental examinations, ultrasonic cleaning and diagnostics. Preventing health problems can be as simple as providing the proper dental care.
